Is perception reality?
This month,WCL AFTER FIVE will be examining the insights presented in The Power of Perception: Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, and the Gender Divide, by Shawn Andrews. This book isn’t about imposter syndrome or self-doubt, skills or competencies. It is about a more limiting factor; the perception of women as leaders, workers, mothers and wives. “This perception has had, and is continuing to have, a significant impact on promotion for many women.” The Power of Perception investigates the barriers that keep women from fully contributing in the workplace and explores what we can do to move forward.
WCL AFTER FIVE puts you in the center of the dialogue. Join us as we take on topics that impact your work, community and home life: how do we handle difficult conversations, give better feedback, speak up for ourselves? Each month we unpack different topics inspired by books, podcasts or articles to keep you current. You can pick up the book at your favorite outlet, or to honor your busy schedule, WCL will provide summaries one-week prior to the event, allowing you to join in the conversation even if you don’t have time to read or listen.

“If ever there was a time in history that cried out for women’s leadership that time is now—and this book underscores why. Thoroughly researched and readable, Dr. Andrews masterfully weaves together an understanding of leadership from the perspectives of the past, present and future. A great read.”
